AN AUSTRALIAN GLAZED EARTHENWARE PEDESTAL BY WILLIAM FERRY
Victoria Art Pottery, Melbourne, circa 1900–1910

Generally of classical form, the shaft modelled in relief and incised with stylised floral and foliate designs, the top in a golden glaze, the shaft in mottled green and brown, the base in brown, impressed underside 'WF / VICTORIA / ART / POTTERY'

  • Condition: Surface scratches and minor wear to the glaze in places, most notably to the top surface
    Losses and chips, varying in size and shape to the edges around the base of the pedestal, together with a hairline crack along one side of the base measuring approximately 20cm in width
    Some wear, scuffs and surface scratches to the underside of the base, consistent with age and use.
