OTHER NOTES:
In 2023 Hirst redefined the spin painting tradition with 'The Beautiful Paintings'. This series blends digital and physical creation, incorporating generative algorithms. Working closely with a data science team, Hirst developed an algorithm written in p5.js, utilising WEBGL shaders, Perlin noise, and trigonometric functions to simulate the motion of paint on canvas. These pieces are upscaled to a 16K resolution using a machine learning algorithm fine-tuned on over 2,000 of Hirst's previous works, preserving intricate details even at larger sizes. Inspired by classical beauty and the timeless power of art, 'The Beautiful Paintings' explore colour theory, light, and shadow, inviting reflection on the fleeting nature of beauty. The series challenges traditional boundaries, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of aesthetic ideals while bridging the gap between traditional and modern art.
