OTHER NOTES:
Peter D. Cole draws inspiration from the landscapes surrounding his hometown of Kyneton in Victoria. Cole's pieces are a unique blend of bold colors juxtaposed with a pared-back minimalist aesthetic.

Jeff Makin sums up the essence of the artist's oeuvre in saying: "Cole is one of the most urbane and lyrical of contemporary artists whose work begins in the countryside."

Cole's work ranging from large-scale sculptures to intimate installations, reflects his distinctive style, characterized by graphic precision and simplicity. With a background in watercolor and drawing, Cole's artistic vision is as convincing on paper as it is in the materials he frequently uses such as brass, bronze, painted steel and aluminum.

Cole's skillfully crafted sculptures articulate spatial concepts as they relate to his interpretation of the world surrounding him. Through his fascination with landscape Cole developed the skill to capture the essence of Australia's rural beauty, intertwined with urban elements, showcasing a keen observation of modern life's boundaries while embracing the vastness of the Australian bush.

Cole is the recipient of the Australian National Trust Heritage Award and the Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture Award of Merit, his work is included in public and corporate collections nationwide including the Parliament House in Canberra, and the National Gallery of Australia.
